Cees Braakman Birch Cabinet
1950s birch cabinet designed by top Dutch designer Cees Braakman for UMS Pastoe, Netherlands. Constructed from birch ply there are two shelves to the interior and four of Braakman’s signature bent ply drawers.
After WWII, Braakman was sent to the US to learn about new production processes. Inspired by Eames’ use of bent ply, Braakman returned to develop his laminated birch ply series. This cupboard is in excellent condition, restored and re-lacquered. The piece has been proffesionally refinished and is in great condition. There is a minor veneer repair to the bottom of one of the doors and a small blemish to the top.
