Bert & May are proud to introduce our paint collection, born out of our love of natural pigments and our dedication to colour. The range has a total of 55 colours formed from 11 palettes, which are available in limewash, eco emulsion and eggshell. Taking inspiration from the natural tones found within our tile range, the pigments create a depth of colour which delivers our signature matt chalky finish.
Here at Bert & May HQ, we have a particular fondness for the limewash finish, which has a natural tie with the origins of our handmade tile collections. Limewash is the original paint making method and is made from limestone that has been crushed, burnt and slaked with water to create lime putty. It is then matured for several months before being thinned with water to create the final limewash. Highly natural and breathable, it is the ideal choice for old walls and lime plaster and gives a stunning velvety, rich finish on both interior and exterior surfaces.
However, we also understand that modern day life creates a necessity for practicality, and have therefore developed an eco emulsion to use internally for a practical and breathable solution, whilst maintaining a chalky, matt finish.
All of the colours are hand mixed at Bert & May’s hub in Vyner Street, Bethnal Green, using the artisan paint mixing methods. As colour specialists Bert & May are dedicated to offering a full materials service and the paints are also available to buy online.
