The modern bathroom has become more than a space for morning preparation and evening cleansing. It can magically transform into a quiet haven for some, a utopian escape at the end of the day; and for others holds nostalgic memories of bath time with the kids. Designing this space can be daunting, the pressure lies in the perfect balance between a beautiful design and adhering to practical needs such as durability and easy to clean surfaces. Frequently used, the bathroom cannot be ignored, it’s important to think about how the bathroom fits in with your needs. Which is why we dedicated a section of our showroom at Vyner Street to bathrooms, opened for you to visit.

As a design brand we like to share our inspired designs with you. We of course create our own photography, sometimes in a studio or on location somewhere to showcase our Bert & May look as any design led brand would.
But we also really love sharing images of finished or even unfinished projects from you, and if any of you follow us on social media you will see our feeds are dotted with gorgeous spaces created and curated with us. We are truly passionate about the design, the layout, the practicalities as well as the aesthetic.

We are a team of designers and we would consider all of the team at Bert & May to be creative people. We have the skill, the eye and the expertise to help deliver great spaces. Whilst our products are fit for any space our tiles, taps and basins work rather well in the bathroom! We love to bring our ranges together, curating our distinctive and unique aesthetic with you. We don’t like to create faddy or fashion led spaces but provide a timeless design, that will last and last. With our use of natural materials it will take the knocks of every day life, whether it’s a busy family bathroom or an elegant relaxing haven and it will only improve over time. We can work with you on your architects’ plans; a hand drawn sketch or just dimensions and magazine tear outs. We can do design consultations in our showrooms or in your home.
Are you wondering if Bert & May tiles are suitable for your bathroom projects? To ease your mind, we’ve answered the top 3 most frequently asked questions.
Our tiles may be made by artisan craftsmen with traditional techniques but their primary ingredient is concrete making them resistant. If our reclaimed finds, some which have been around for over 100 years, have a long life span, we are confident that our tile range carries longevity.
They are indeed, however to prevent water marking they must be sealed. We provide recommended instructions with all our tile orders, and advice to hire a skilled installer. We have followed some of our biggest projects over the years and have seen that the quality of the tiles have remained the same as when they were first installed. Our tiles have been used on floors and walls, making them suitable for wet-rooms.
No, we listen to your needs and have tiles to accommodate your vision. If you like your bathroom a little shinier but still love the understated look then our simple plain glazed tiles could work for you. We also have them in different colours, which have more depth to them; an opaque colour and they look great mixed with the white.
If you are embarking on a bathroom or any other project get in touch, we can’t wait to embark on the next stages of your bathroom installation.
