Our handmade cement tiles are designed in the UK and hand poured in southern Spain by a family of fourth generation artisan tilers. Whether plain or patterned, each cement tile is meticulously crafted with crushed marble included as part of the mix to strengthen it and create a beautiful, raw finish. All our cement tiles are suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. Browse our collection below.
Thanks to their hard-wearing nature and practical qualities, cement tiles are a great choice for almost anywhere in or outside your home. They’re low maintenance and long lasting, provide a non-slip surface for high-traffic areas such as hallways, and are also suitable for very hot areas such as fireplaces. As they’re hand poured, our cement tiles look fantastic, too – no two are ever exactly the same, so they’re full of character, and their soft, chalky finish adds real depth to wherever they’re used.
Once they have been sealed, cement tiles are totally waterproof and can be used in bathrooms and wet rooms as well as outdoors. Bert & May’s cement tiles do not come sealed but we sell the required products here and provide full installation guides here.
Cement tiles are suitable for floors, walls, splashbacks, high-traffic areas, wet rooms, underfloor heating, fireplaces, and outdoors, too...
As they’re naturally slip resistant and incredibly hard wearing, cement tiles are a natural choice for floors. You can create simple schemes with our neutrals and plain colours or go all-out with intricate designs or bold patterns. The chalky texture of cement tiles means they don’t create an ‘echo’ sound, making them ideal for large floor spaces in need a soft edge.
Using cement tiles on walls is a great alternative to wallpaper or paint and creates stunning depth. Our patterned cement tiles offer so much versatility – many can be laid in different tessellations to create an arrangement that’s totally unique to your interior.
Thanks to their hardwearing nature and soft feel underfoot, cement tiles are a great choice for bathrooms. Our cement tiles are suitable for use in wet rooms and showers, both on the walls and the floors, and will be 100% waterproof once sealed following the instructions in our installation guides.
Their suitability for use in very hot areas means cement tiles (particularly our patterned collections) are perfect for transforming a simple fireplace into a real focal point.
Cement tiles can turn often-overlooked hallways into style-forward spaces in their own right. From classic monochrome patterns to more dramatic designs, our cement tiles are the ideal way to make an entrance (and you can use them on your front path, too).
Once they’re sealed, our cement tiles can lend their good looks and practical qualities to kitchen floors, walls and splashbacks with stunning effect. Their soft colours work well with wooden worktops, while our contemporary collections complement modern kitchen units beautifully.
All our cement tiles are encaustic, meaning the colours you see come from the clay used to make the tile, as opposed to a glazing process. Our colours are all created using natural pigments which are combined with the cement mix and hand poured onto the tile before it’s dried. This means that the colour doesn’t just sit on top of the tile, but deep within it, so even if you need to sand the tile surface, you won’t lose any of its intensity.
Our plain cement tiles come in 25 colours, ranging from very light tones such as our classic Brighton Stone to deep shades including Darkroom Black, our darkest colour. From delicate blues to statement-making pinks, we’ve worked hard to curate a palette that’s bursting with carefully considered colours that sit on just the right side of bright. While they cover a full spectrum of shades, what all our colours have in common is a soft, chalky quality for which we have become known.
From the intricate Antique collection to our highly stylised Modernist range, we have developed an extensive array of patterned cement tiles to suit all tastes and interior schemes. These tiles can be used alone to create a striking design statement or in conjunction with our plain cement tiles for a more subtle look.
This size and shape of cement tile has been around for centuries and is very much a classic look. No nonsense and easy to arrange, our 20cm x 20xm squares suit any space, and are particularly successful on floors and patios.
Our half-size squares are great for smaller spaces or areas where you want to create intricate patterns or patchwork looks.
Herringbones can be used to create patterns consisting of short, parallel lines. Go for simple stripes or a zig-zag design to add texture and depth to your walls or floor.
These six-sided tiles add real interest to interiors. Sophisticated and timeless, they can be used in one uniform colour or several different shades to create a bespoke patchwork design.
This is our newest cement tile shape, and it’s definitely here to stay. It’s super versatile and can be used to create stripes, harlequin checks, or a simple one-colour scheme with a twist.
