Fragment is a tile collection designed in collaboration with London based design firm, Kitesgrove.

The collection features abstract designs in muted tones. The tiles could be repeated or interspersed with solid plain tiles in the same or a complementary colour to intensify or pare back the overall impact. The Quad design is made up of four similar designs, each contained within the tile’s border and with a subtle differentiation from the next, allowing for a nuanced yet dynamic tessellation. This 6.5SQM lot is a mix of three different designs.

We are immensely proud to have grown Bert & May alongside the same family of tile makers in Córdoba, Spain. Felix and his family are fourth-generation artisans, and together we have spent years perfecting what we believe to be some of the finest encaustic tiles in the world.

Every tile is still made by hand by a skilled team of artisans. There are no machine-perfect edges or clinical finishes here. Each tile carries the subtle imprint of the person who made it - a gentle variation in colour, texture and shape that makes every installation feel completely unique.

And yes, encaustic tiles ask a little more of you. They are beautifully substantial to lay and need a simple seal to protect them. But we think that is a small price to pay for something made with such care.
