Each of our reclaimed terracotta tiles carries subtle undulations, gentle curvature and a patina from its previous life to create a beautiful surface full of detail.

The colour-palette ranges from soft ochre to rich, burnt-rust tones, with every tile one having its own unique variation. This makes them perfectly at home in a setting where individual personality and natural textures are central — whether that’s a pared-back or more traditional scheme.

Terracotta’s all about character, and a bit of care goes a long way. They’re a natural material, which means you’ll spot natural wear and surface quirks. That’s not a defect; it’s why we love them. Seal them properly and they’ll last a lifetime.

Earth, shaped by hand.

Terracotta has always been a Bert & May staple. So when we set out to find our terracotta, we knew we had to find something exceptional.

After years of working with quarries and makers across Italy and France, we found Jesús and his family workshop on the outskirts of Alicante, Spain. For more than 30 years, his family has been making terracotta here - and, without hesitation, we think they make some of the finest in the world.

Just as great wine is shaped by its terroir, great terracotta begins with the clay from which it is made. The clay used for our tiles comes from the family’s own quarry, quite literally on their doorstep. The team take what they need from the earth and transform it, by hand, into beautiful terracotta slabs.

There is no need to overcomplicate something this beautiful. We don't add dyes, bleaches or artificial colourings. What you see is what you get - pure Spanish clay, shaped and fired into tile.

For us, this is terracotta at its very best — nothing added, nothing disguised, just extraordinary earth turned into something you’ll live with for years.
