These characterful zellige mosaics are cut and finished by hand in Morocco.

The design is a twist on a traditional look; the clover motif sits at the centre of four tiles. As with all zellige, no two are ever quite alike: the hand-cut edges, subtle glazes, and earthy texture mean the finished surface feels alive, full of depth and charm. The raw finish of this tile is matte to touch and creates a relaxed, layered look which we love.

The beauty is in the imperfection.

Our zellige tiles are made in Fez, Morocco, in a small workshop of just 12 makers. This is a traditional craft that demands time, patience and an extraordinary level of skill - and there is simply no shortcut to making them properly.

Each tile begins life as a handmade biscuit, which is then cut by hand and carefully chiselled around the edges. It is this process that creates the wonderfully irregular shape and softly rough edges that give zellige its unmistakable character.

We have worked closely with our maker, José, to develop a small, beautifully considered palette of colours. Each batch has its own subtle variations in tone and finish, so we always recommend keeping tiles from the same batch together rather than mixing batches.

This is artisanal craft in its purest form - slow, imperfect and completely beautiful.
