Metro Tiles

Metro tiles are inspired by traditional London Underground subway tiles and have a classic aesthetic that is now used in modern spaces, kitchens, and bathrooms. Originating from the early 20th century, the brickwork design is now loved and used to add a seamless contemporary touch to interiors. You can use them to create parallel patterns including simple stripes or zigzags, or in a traditional herringbone layout.

Within our collection, you'll find a variety of beautiful colours including white metro tiles, grey metro tiles and green metro tiles.

Best rooms for metro tiles

Thanks to their classic aesthetic, Metro tiles work in a wide variety of spaces and will look great wherever you use them.

These flexible tiles are a particularly popular choice for bathrooms. Go classic with our Glazed Stubby in Brighton Stone in a brick-effect arrangement, or create a contemporary look with our Skinny White Metro tiles in a vertical pattern.

Another great way to use our metro tiles is to pair them with our encaustic tiles. Go for a plain or patterned encaustic tile on the floor and team with a glazed metro tile in a complementary colour on the wall for a beautifully cohesive scheme.

Can metro tiles be used on any surface?

It depends which ones you use. Our Cement Herringbone tiles can be used on walls and floors, but anything glazed – Skinny Metro, Glazed Rectangle, Glazed Stubby and Seville Metro – is recommended for walls only.
