Design focus: Ibizan Villa with Inspired Interiors
Can Linda, an Ibizan villa by architect and designer Kati Tschawow, has undergone a transformative three-year refurbishment, blending nostalgia, vibrancy and craftsmanship through Bert & May tiles.
Rediscovering a Glamorous Past
Kati was instantly drawn to Can Linda for its unique charm: a serene setting within a mature garden, an inviting pool, and layers of worn luxury hinting at a more glamorous era. From Carrara marble floors to an oversized bathtub and flashes of California regency style, the villa’s original bones carried stories that begged to be reimagined.
A Visual Thread of Tiles and Texture
Throughout the villa, Bert & May tiles act as a visual thread, tying together the distinct spaces while reinforcing the home’s identity. Cement Alalpardo tiles in a bespoke blue and cream were created for the expansive terrace, and terracotta features throughout the property. Honed marble in Rose Pink, Green, Black, and White tones add sophistication and texture to the bathroom and pool areas, including the outdoor shower, and pool steps and border.
Mixing Materials
Steering away from the neutral, rustic aesthetic typical of the island, Kati focused the design on colour, memory, and vintage influence. The interiors pay homage to 1980s Italian summer holidays, layered with texture and character. Kati says; “This house is a reflection of everything I love; bold colour, pieces with history, and materials that have real soul. Working with Bert & May to achieve my vision has made the process seamless and each tile adds a bit of personality and character to the property.”
The tiles' handmade character and timeless appeal perfectly complement Kati’s layered, nostalgic approach, adding depth and tactility to every room. The result is a stunning example of considered design.
