Saltmoore is a new luxury retreat in a former 19th century estate located between the sprawling North Yorkshire Moors and the open sea.
This wellness-led sanctuary comprises two new properties: a 43-bedroom hotel surrounded by verdant gardens and orchards, and The Beach House, a 29-room sister property with sweeping views of Yorkshire’s wild coastline. Just a short drive from the charming town of Whitby and close to the picturesque village of Sandsend, Saltmoore offers laid-back luxury for those looking to explore the rugged coastlines, historic cobbled streets, and rolling hills of North Yorkshire.
Inspired coastal design by Sapin Studio
The interiors have been completely reimagined by Sapin Studio to reflect the spirit of the estate’s Victorian heritage, but in a contemporary context. Drawing on the geography of the area, the interiors blend elegance with coastal charm using a natural colour palette inspired by the ocean and Moors. All bedrooms feature timeless touches including roll-top baths, upholstered headboards and contemporary four-poster beds.
Bert & May tiles have been used in each en-suite bathroom to elegant effect: soft greens from Glazed Fennel tiles and Pearl Alapardo’s gentle pinks add a soothing aesthetic that echo the heather draped Moors. The warming yellow of Bassoon paired with Pearl Pale Glazed tiles contrasts in an elegantly understated way. Classic Cozar paired with Little Greene Rolling Fog Glazed Tiles in Metro format. Saltmoore is an elegant retreat offering guests the perfect place to rest and recharge in one of the UK’s most enchanting settings.
